Ohio University Collective Bargaining Agreement
For decades, Ohio University and AFSCME, Ohio Council 8, Local 1699 have maintained and maintained a positive partnership. The parties are determined and optimistic that an agreement will be reached in the near future. The bargaining unit of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) represents approximately 500 Ohio University employees. Employee & Labor Relations is responsible for the management and negotiation of the AFSCME contract. The parties have been actively involved and meet regularly to negotiate the terms of a subsequent collective agreement. These meetings were very productive and positive, as many of the current issues affecting Ohio University and its AFSCME staff were carefully reviewed and discussed. As the negotiating meetings remain constructive and fruitful, the parties agreed that additional time would be useful to reach a comprehensive agreement in the best interests of both parties. The Labour Relations team serves Ohio University employees, supervisors, managers and administration as a strategic partner in all matters related to collective employee groups, union activities and various collective agreements. Specifically, industrial relations employees are concentrated as follows: the human resources department provides the AFSCME and FOP bargaining units with a copy of a seniority list twice a year (AFSCME, March 1 and September 1; FOP, January 1 and July 1) indicates the seniority of each employee in the bargaining unit.
Each employee has ten working days after the publication of this list to question his position on this list. If no questions are received within the time limit, the list is considered applicable for the remainder of the booking period. When a question is received, the list is revised and, if necessary, revised. Please send uhr@ohio.edu an email with questions about seniority lists. Ohio University and AFSCME, Ohio Council 8, Local 1699 announce the agreement to extend the current collective agreement between the parties. The current collective agreement has been in effect since March 1, 2017 and is expected to expire on March 1, 2020. The renewal agreement gives the parties the opportunity to continue working towards the conclusion of the future collective agreement, while the current terms and conditions of employment, salaries and benefits of employees can continue without interruption. The renewal agreement will remain in effect until a subsequent agreement has been accepted. All Ohio University employees are required to comply with Article 43, Alcohol and Other Drugs, the Collective Agreement, and Ohio University Policy 41,133. An employee who illegally possesses, consumes or is under the influence of alcohol or other drugs is subject to appropriate penalties. All employees are important and important to fulfill the mission of the Facilities and Auxiliaries Department. Employees are encouraged to be present at work to carry out their professional duties and responsibilities.
Employees who are unable to report to work must notify their supervisor in accordance with the rules specified in the Work Rules document above. An employee who uses 88 hours of paid sick leave in a 12-month retrospective period, without the exceptions specified in the policy, will be notified. Any employee who takes more than 120 hours of paid sick leave in a 12-month retrospective period that is not due to any of the exceptions mentioned in the policy is subject to corrective or disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. When corrective or disciplinary action is taken, it is applied progressively and consistently in accordance with OHIO University`s sound management practices and procedures. . Ohio University prohibits sexual misconduct, relationship violence, and stalking in any of its employment situations or educational programs and activities described in Ohio University Policy 03.004. Work rules provide guidance on expectations of workplace behaviour. Violations of labor rules, collective agreement, ministerial procedures, Ohio University policies, or examples of bad behavior at work can result in disciplinary action, including termination. As stated in Ohio University Policy 41.135, Ohio University is committed to maintaining a safe and non-violent workplace and does not tolerate any threats or violent behavior of any kind from Ohio University employees toward faculty, staff, students, or visitors.
Ohio University employees are not permitted to engage in any prohibited conduct (described in the Policy) at any time on or off the Service. Continuous employment of all employees should be done with good work behavior and efficient service. No employee may be suspended or dismissed except in cases of incompetence, inefficiency, dishonesty, drunkenness, under the influence of drugs of abuse, immoral behavior, insubordination and rude treatment of the public, negligence of duty, violation of university rules or any other breach of good conduct, Article 33 (A), Discipline, Collective Agreement. . . .
